She's in the car with the boy she loves,
and he doesn't know it.
As he drives, she steals glances,
heart racing with every smile.
His smile, a sunrise; her undoing.
Suddenly, he takes her hand,
"Just in case," he says,
as a truck cuts them off.
Her heart stutters, skips beats.
Is this the moment he'll see her true feelings,
or just a fleeting touch?
Longing, a fluttering bird,
swirls in her chest,
a mix of hope despair.
As sunset paints the sky,
she whispers, "I..."
but the music from the radio drowns her out.
Nostalgia washes over her.
Will she try again,
or let the silence drive them further?
Will she find courage to reveal her desire,
or forever hide in the passenger seat?
Finally, the GPS leads them
to his favorite spot.
"Coincidence," he says.
She smiles, knowing she programmed it.
She'll hold on tight,
to the ache in her chest,
the secret she keeps.
She'll nurture the hope within,
that one day he'll see.
Unrequited love is the ghetto, man.😂
I saw the starting line of this piece somewhere about two years ago and it has been stuck in my head since then. So glad that I could finally make something out of it today.
This is the first of my many attempts to write love, what do you think?
I'm a sucker for loveðŸ˜
It was beautiful, felt like a poem somewhat but still... beautiful ✨
i loved it. it played in my head by scene as I read each line 😂💜
