Hi guys, how are you and how was your week? I had a very unproductive week, I did the barest minimum throughout and it's quite annoying. Next week will be better, hopefully.
Take a minute and thank God for this week.
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
[17] Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
I don't want to make assumptions but I’m very sure most of us, if not all of us sef, are familiar with this bible verse. I mean, even if you aren't a Christian, you've probably heard or seen this bible verse somewhere.
You haven't? Oya, it's okay, you're seeing it now.
A lot of people, including me, like to quote this bible verse everytime and everywhere but I don't think we have realized that we actually a role to play to be to fully experience the reality of this bible verse. There are so many bible verses like this and it's just so easy for us to keep quoting them as words of affirmation, while neglecting the fact that there's work to be done.
Ephesians 4:22-24 puts it like this; we are to “put off our old self”, and “put on our new self” that created after the likeness of God. Romans 12: 2 says to "renew our minds".
See? You have to make conscious efforts. Yes, God has given us the promise that once you believe, the guilt of the past is gone and you're free. Yes, you have a new life but you still have to make efforts in destroying every link between you and that past. You have to burn those bridges, my love. You can't say you believe that God has given you a new life and you're still playing with your toys from the past? I don't need to tell you what those toys are, you know them and you need to let those things go! Some of us find it hard to let go of our guilt from the past and it's saddening.
Before somebody comes to say we're not justified by works, I hope you know that faith without works is dead?
I deleted someone's number from my notes app very recently after so much struggles and I was so proud of myself. Imagine spending hours praying to God to help you let go of someone and you literally still have a link to that person? Does that even make any sense? I had to take matters into my hand ‘cause God will not come down from heaven to delete someone’s number from my phone.😂 I mean, He has already given me the gift of common sense!
Yes, this thing is hard, I know. It takes so much time to break a bad habit and form a healthy one, I think an average of 21 days or so and it won't even be the same for everyone. So, it takes so much time and strength but you can trust that God is there for you. Form new healthy habits and make them your daily routine. Know that it's okay to fall into your old habits once in a while as long as you don't wallow in them for too long. It might not seem like much is happening, but day-by-day and bit-by-bit, you are being transformed, if you're truly making efforts.
Also, it might look like you are doing or you have to do these things with your own strength, but I'm telling you that it is not you that's doing these things. Yet, it is still you because you are only able to do them by the power of the God that's in you.
Makes sense?
Burning your bridges isn't a bad thing because it prevents you from going back to places you weren't even meant to be in the first place. Like I always say, I'm not telling you to go and start cutting people off because you want to burn bridges or do away with the past. However, you should know that certain people aren't meant to walk the rest of your journey with you. Plot twist: some people look and act like they're good for you but they aren't, AT ALL.
Burn that bridge to the ground today and I hope the light from that fire lights up your path!

*While writing this, I realized that God can actually make me loose my phone or just do something to make me loose that number but I don't think He’ll waste His time and power on something like that. This is to tell you that God can do everything but there are things He will NOT do.
I'm still praying to God for help sha because unfortunately for me, I know this person's number off hand.🤣 God can just erase my memory or sumn now, yeah?
